From the Italian school for asylum seekers in Bari to boat trips on Lake Como with disabled children, up to cleaning the paths in the mountain areas in Valtellina. These are some of the projects supported by Edison and the Eos Edison Orizzonte Sociale Ets Foundation one year after the “Good Idea – Good projects come from within” initiative designed to enhance the social commitment of Edison employees and thus measure itself with that increasingly required in society.
During 2023, Edison staff from 20 Italian cities presented over 35 project proposals, of which 10 were selected, three of which were adopted by the Eos Foundation, the other seven received financial support from the executive committee by Edison. The ten projects crossed Italy (Lombardy, Piedmont, Campania and Puglia), involving 712 beneficiaries, 15 third sector bodies, networks of teachers, educators of 25 school classes from five Italian institutes and 120 Edison employees. The initiatives were started in 2024 and will continue in 2025. Thus we walked together with an ever-changing plurality. In Bari, ten people from Edison supported the Community of Sant’Egidio in the Italian school for asylum seekers, from setting up the room to providing teaching materials to babysitting activities for their children, so that parents can concentrate more in the study of the language. In Turin, with Pro Infantia, the PRO-cooking laboratory was launched which features adolescents who live in conditions of serious fragility within a training course on food preservation. Yet another laboratory was born in Naples in the definition of a protocol for the reuse of waste: it is the “Smart Scart” project with APS Roots in Action which involved 40 young people.
Edison and the Eos Foundation were in Milan to support the Handicap Su la testa association in support of independent living projects, while on Lake Como the “Sailing for all” project allowed young people with disabilities and frailty to participate in 20 sailing trips. There were 56 beneficiaries, 38 children and nine people from Edison.
Over 200 young people from Lower Valtellina together with K2 Valtellina Asd dedicated themselves to cleaning the mountain areas, from cutting plants and shrubs to arranging signage. Around 300 young people were involved in Turin with the Sergio Zaniboni association in workshops dedicated to environmental issues and again in Turin, a group of Edison volunteers offered energy consultancy to third sector organisations: the first entity to benefit from it was the Paideia Foundation, a to whom the design of a photovoltaic system was donated to reduce consumption on the farm in Caramagna, Piedmont. Again in Turin, the Insuperabili non-profit organization was supported for the purchase of a minibus that will transport athletes with disabilities. In Milan, over 20 young people as part of the “La piccolotta Barca” cultural center program approached the world of energy, visiting the Edison headquarters in the Lombardy capital and the historic hydroelectric production plants, guided by the story of Edison staff.
