No need to have a large apartment to organize a successful evening effortlessly, you just need to think ahead. Thanks to our advice, your guests will no longer want to go home!
It’s not the size that matters so don’t despair of the small number of square meters in your apartment! They should in no way slow down your desire to receive your friends and family for brunch, an aperitif or even a dinner. You just need to get organized and follow our to-do list for entertaining in your small space and enjoying this moment of sharing without stress and conviviality.
1- Start by tidying up
Yes, it seems obvious, but we can’t say it enough: a small space can’t afford to be invaded by clutter, especially when entertaining guests. So remove everything that clutters the space like the piles of magazines in the living room, the recycling that accumulates in the kitchen, the cups lying everywhere, and take the opportunity to wash the dishes and clean everywhere to welcome your guests in optimal conditions.
2- Rearrange the space of your small interior
Don’t worry, it’s not a question of turning everything upside down in your studio or your small apartment, but rather of rethinking the space so that it adapts as best as possible to your evening. You may therefore be able to move the coffee table to be able to install a dining table in the middle of the room, so that your guests can be comfortably seated. If you are organizing a seated dinner evening, free up as much space as possible in the center of the living room and arrange seats (chairs, poufs, floor cushions, etc.) here and there without obstructing the passage from one room to another. No buffet this year, but in normal times, it is better, to avoid traffic jams, to position a few bowls and bottles in different places in the living room and in the kitchen. Reserve the room for your guests’ coats and bags to save space (especially in winter!) in the main room.
3- Prepare in advance
To celebrate with peace of mind, prepare as much as possible in advance: the petits fours for the aperitif, the gratin that you will put in the oven as soon as the doorbell rings, the dessert to be refrigerated… This way you can take full advantage of your loved ones while simply taking care of last minute details — of which there will already be enough! You will also allow the kitchen to be fully accessible to your guests who always end up converging towards this room anyway. Also think in advance about your possible needs for dishes or seating, so that you can fill them with the help of a friend or neighbor, who can then also get organized.
4- Get your guests involved
If you unfortunately haven’t had time to prepare your various dishes and hors d’oeuvres in advance, don’t hesitate to involve everyone! This is still the best way to relaxatmosphere. You will see that the conversation will be even more lively at the table, to your greatest joy.
5- Pay attention to details
In a smaller space, certain details will be more obvious, such as different light sources, for example. Create a atmosphere both intimate and welcoming by multiplying the warm lighting which does not attack your guests and on the contrary puts them at ease. Also make sure that the temperature of the room does not exceed a certain comfort threshold: with more people than usual in a limited number of square meters, you can quickly create a lot of heat.
6- Treat yourself by entertaining in your small space
And it’s not because you receive in a small space that you cannot please yourself, on the contrary! Take care of her table decorationbuy a bouquet of seasonal flowers, carefully select the dishes that will delight your friends… If the hostess has a good evening, so will her guests!
