The IX edition of will be broadcast on Saturday 11 January 2025, in the late evening on Rai Uno “Women for Women against Violence – Camomilla Award”a one-of-a-kind television event dedicated to the two main killers of women: gender violence and breast cancer. Hosted by Arianna Ciampoli and Beppe Convertini (in the photo) and directed by Antonio Centomani, the event aims to give voice to the strength of women, highlighting stories of resilience and rebirth that represent a beacon of hope.
Promoted, conceived, written and produced by Donatella Gimiglianopresident of the Umanitas Consortium Association, in collaboration with the other two authors Fabrizio Silvestri and Cristina Monaco, the Camomilla Award underlines a sad reality: in Italy, every year, over 110 women are killed by men who profess to love them, while the tumor Breastfeeding remains the most lethal “big killer” for the female gender, with around 12,000 victims annually.
Among the most significant moments of the evening, the monologue “I dance for life” by Rosanna Banfi and the short film “The Choice” by Cristina Donadio, both intimate testimonies of the fight against breast cancer. The young Nicolò Maja, the only survivor of a family massacre, will intervene with a touching reflection: “How can I forgive you dad?”addressing the topic of forgiveness after a femicide. Nadia Accetti will bring her experience, demonstrating how the pain of violence can be transformed into commitment to others.
To enrich the program, high-level artistic performances: from the electric violinist Elsa Martignoni to the Gemelli di Guidonia, up to the performances of the Dancers for Oncologyled by Carolyn Smith and Carolina Marconi.
The prestigious Chamomile Awardconceived by the master goldsmith Michele Affidato, will be delivered to personalities and activists involved in these issues. Among the winners are Carmela PaceUNICEF president, Rosario Valastropresident of the Italian Red Cross, and the activist Vladimir Luxuria. Guests of honor will be Valentina Pitzalis, symbol of the fight against gender violence, and Carla Caiazzo, president of the association “I still laugh”both survivors of tragic episodes of violence.
An event that is not limited to remembering, but aims to inspire and change, making stories of resilience a warning and a model for everyone.
