Not obvious on paper, the renovation then the meeting of two mountain studios nevertheless gave birth to a beautiful apartment of 57 m², between comfort and modernity found.
It took a lot of imagination to the architect Thibaut Picard to embark on the transformation of these two studios, located in a 70’s residence in Avoriaz. A year and a half after the renovation of the first, he tackled the second, adjoining, and it is a pre-after that is worth the detour! From the same area and arranged such, these two goods were gathered for the best in four months each, eight months of work in all. Completely redesigned tailor-made for a Geneva couple and their little daughter, this property serves as a second home. So everything had to be there. Despite many technical constraints, the architect has managed to take up the challenge by integrating three night spaces, respecting the expectations and needs of its customers.
While there was once a kitchenette, a bathroom with WC, a small dining area and a living room/sleeping area, the first of the two studios today hosts the entrance to the place, the new kitchen of the family , the little girl’s room capable of transforming into an office, with, at the back, a water room with toilet and a dining room worthy of the name. As for the second studio, the one that interests us today, you will see that he too has changed! At the start, and although it was recently redone, the decoration of the property, too marked “chalet”, did not matt with the new development, or with the tastes of the owners of the premises.
During this second renovation orchestrated by Thibaut Picard, the space near the bay window turned into a real living room with fireplace, preserved to be magnified. Thanks to an ingenious system designed by the architect, a bed mounted on casters disappears under the bench, thus offering a second night corner. As for the third, that of the parents, it takes place behind the sliding canopy wall, thought to optimize the space with elegance.

Back in the past. When we looked at the main room towards the bay window, imposing furniture pieces clogged this studio already not very large …

It is ancient history now. In order to maximize space and release the available volumes, the architect had another brilliant idea in the couple’s room. On the left, a retractable double bed fits discreetly into a wall furniture. Just behind, a door leads to the other side of the apartment, offering fluid traffic and optimizing the movements between these two lots now gathered with ingenuity.
The proof that with good ideas, a palette of neat colors and clever tailor-made arrangements, it is possible to bring in three beds in less than 60 m². Thibaut hat!
