In France, around 15.4 million retirees receive a pension from the general scheme for former employees of the private sector. But how much do they touch on average? Insurance has just published enlightening figures.

Ex-private man, receive a basic pension (excluding additional retirement) greater than average? The data published this Tuesday, February 18 by retirement insurance allow you to be among the approximately 15.389 million former workers who receive a pension from the National Caisse de l’Assurance Vieille (CNAV). Know to start that all rights combined – Personal retirement and reversion pension Poured to the surviving spouse -, a former private employee is served an average of 866 euros every month. But beware, like any average, this figure hides very strong disparities. Starting with notable differences between men and women, the first to have 978 euros on average, exactly 200 euros more than seconds (778 euros).
The gap between women and men widens
But this amount can, depending on your career, be much higher. If you have obtained all insurance quarters necessary for your retirement (full career), the pension paid solely by direct law (excluding survivor’s pension) reaches 1,247 euros on average for the 6.61 million retirees in question. Again, women (1,123 euros) are much less well -based than men (1,362 euros). Or a difference of more than 21%!
And, bad news for women, the gap is widening in 2024. The average amounts awarded as open pensions during 2024. The 865,470 pensions newly paid last year reached an average monthly amount of 839 euros: 978 euros for men and 747 euros for women. And for Complete careersthe observation is even more impressive. The 296,361 retirees in question affected an average pension of 1,272 euros. An amount that climbs to 1,409 euros for men and is limited to only 1,127 euros among women. Otherwise said, with retirement in 2024, the average difference in basic pension Between a man and a woman culminates at 25%.
