From 27 March to 9 November 2025, the ecomuseum of the Freidano of Settimo Torinese hosts “A caravan for I captain”photographic and documentary exhibition that tells the unique experience of the film by Matteo Garrone traveling through Senegal.
To cure the exhibition is Silvia Camporesi, who guides the public in the heart of the itinerant project of Cinemovel Foundationborn to bring I captain Directly in the squares, schools and villages of Senegal, places where the film has its roots. On board a real “traveling cinema”, the crew crossed the country in 2024, accompanied by the protagonists and cultural mediators, transforming each projection into a moment of comparison, memory and community.
Through the intense photographs of Niccolò Boat and Andrea Fiumana, and the videos edited by Thomas Pilani, the exhibition documents this extraordinary journey: the waiting of the public, the reactions during the film, the heated debates, the setting up of the spaces, the magic of a screen that lights emotions and reflections.
An exhibition that, as he has underinEato Enzo Ghigo, President of the National Cinema Museum, “returns an important job, sharing a message of awareness and hope”.
The result of the collaboration between the National Museum of Cinema, Film Commission Turin Piedmont, ECM Foundation, Solidarity Foundation, with the support of the Municipality of Settimo Torinese and numerous partners in the area, the exhibition is an example of cultural and social synergy, capable of dealing with deep themes such as migration, identity and inclusion.
