In other words, this trick works by creating a protective barrier on the surface of the tap, preventing the minerals of the water from depositing it. We are talking about the candle wax here: “The candle wax will not eliminate existing water spots, but it will do a good job by creating a barrier that will prevent these spots in the first place”, explains Carolina Kazimierski. It specifies that this substance, based on oil, is naturally hydrophobic: water can neither dissolve it or penetrate it. This is why it is particularly effective in preserving the shine of metal surfaces.
The expert, however, recommends using only beeswax or unfocied wax candles. “The beeswax is not only ecological, but also softer than most forms of candle wax, which makes it easier to apply”she says.
