A well -known scam is surfaced, and has many victims. This time, crooks use a simple detail that makes the fraudulent message very difficult to spot.
Scams are multiplying online, but this time, the crooks were satisfied “to improve” a combination already known to the French, by making it even more realistic. Indeed, with all the scams now circulating, most consumers have learned to be wary of emails and SMS imitating brands or government sites. But no one expects to receive this type of personalized message.
The package is not new. It consists for malicious people to send a message to the customer by pretending to be the delivery man. Generally, the SMS specifies that the package is too large and that it cannot place it in the mailbox. A link is then offered to choose the closest relating point in which it is authorized to deposit the package. By clicking on this URL, the crooks manage to recover personal data as well as bank information if you provide it online. A well -established scam, but which has lost efficiency after customers were informed of the deception. But this scam did not say her last word, and she comes back more beautiful with this new technique which makes many victims.
This time, we must start from the principle that everyone can be fooled. And for good reason: crooks now use the first names and surnames of their recipient. The message becomes immediately personalized and confusing. So how do you know that this is a scam? If you receive this SMS: “It’s the delivery man, I have a package in the name of XX who did not fit into the mailbox, please choose a relay“, do not click on the link displayed.
The names and surnames are generally recovered by the crooks thanks to the hacking of a company. They thus steal your personal data and then use it against their victim. Always be careful to check the recipient’s phone number. As a reminder, postal services like La Poste or Mondial Relay and Colissimo never use a number starting with 06, 07 or 09. It is also possible to contact the transport company in charge of your package in order to take a look at the follow -up of the shipment.
