In a room, every detail counts: light, volumes, materials, general harmony. To imagine a new space, you have to be able to read it as a blank page. But it still has to be really … empty. Discover the incredible testimony of the Pop My Deco interior decorator!

When you work in interior decoration, you enter the privacy of people. We cross corridors loaded with memories, we open doors to very personal universes. We discover salons frozen in another era, kitchens full of charm or disorder, too small or too empty rooms, bare walls awaiting a color, an atmosphere, a life. We learn to read a house, to listen to what she says of its inhabitants. Pricillia, a decorator in Île-de-France, is used to all this. She knows that each project has its constraints, its history, its surprises. But that day, the surprise was of another kind.

She goes to a new client for a very classic performance. On the program: exchange on tastes and desires, location of the part, taking measurements, some photos. The welcome is warm, the discussion fluid, everything goes perfectly well. The client explains what she imagines for her room, what she would like to change, the atmospheres she loves. Nothing abnormal, until they go together to the part concerned.

Just in front of the door, the client leans towards Pricillia and slips a sentence in a low voice. A strange sentence. Pricillia remains frozen for a moment, a nervous smile on his lips. She is not sure to have understood correctly. So she reassures herself: “I say to myself she makes me a joke”. Because what she has just heard cannot be serious.

But the client opens the door, lights the light, and Pricillia enters a room immersed in half a penis. However, it is day outside. And there she sees it. A form elongated under the duvet. Motionless. Someone sleeps in bed. It was not a joke. He’s the father of the client. Asleep in the middle of the room that it is supposed to analyze, measure, photograph.

Pricillia remains motionless for a little, a little disrected. She doesn’t really know how to react. The client seems to find it perfectly normal. Then the decorator decides to advance gently, in silence. She takes her measures, while avoiding making the slightest noise. At one point, she must measure the wall behind the headboard, less than a meter from the sleeper. She holds his breath, hoping that he does not wake up. The scene is unreal.

Once the measurements are taken, she leaves the room on the tips of her feet. She joins the show, smiled politely, and resumes exchange as if nothing had happened. But internally, she is shaken. Not by the incident itself, but by what it reveals: a total misunderstanding on the conditions of a decoration visit!

Since that day, Pricillia no longer leaves any vague zone. She takes the time to explain precisely how the first visit takes place. She insists that the room must be free, cleared, well lit. You have to be able to circulate, observe, take photos. It is not a whim, it is a necessity for working well, to imagine a new space and to offer suitable ideas. Decoration is not just a matter of taste. It is also a matter of method. And sometimes, a funny anecdote allows you to better frame things. Since this experience, Pricillia has never had to measure an occupied room again. And she never starts a project without having clarified, from the start, that no, it is not a joke.
