It is not enough to communicate: you need to know how to generate life. And knowing how to do it with authenticity, passion, creativity. This is the heart of the message launched yesterday at the San Paolo library in Rome, where the delivery ceremony of the “Communication Artisan” Award 2025promoted by the San Paolo company.
In the heart of the capital, a stone’s throw from San Pietro, on the afternoon of June 5 he saw words, stories and testimonies converge for the first edition of a prize born to last. The initiative – designed by Don Roberto Ponti together with the Provincial Council of the San Paolo company, on the occasion of 59th World Day of Social Communications and the twenty years of the Communication Week – They want to celebrate those who, in the world of the Church and society, communicate by intertwining truth and creativity, leaving a deep imprint in the relational and cultural fabric.
Two exceptional witnesses received the recognition: Arturo Marianiwriter, athlete and motivator, and the Cardinal Víctor Manuel FernándezPrefect of the Dicastery for the doctrine of faith. Two very different paths, however united by a common trait: the ability to speak to the heart, to build proximity, to turn on hope.
This was also underlined by Don Domenico Soliman, superior general of the San Paolo company, who spoke at the meeting: “The crafts of communication is a vocation – he said – which requires care, discernment and educational passion. It is not improvised, but is cultivated with patience and love ».
Moderate by the journalist of Christian family Annachiara Valle, the two winners told their life and communication experiences, offering an intense cross -section of the profound meaning of communicating today.
The Cardinal Fernándezwith a family and reflective tone, retraced the red thread that unites the stages of his path: “Since he was a boy I felt the desire to communicate – he said – to the point of founding a small theatrical group in my parish”. Then the jump on the radio, during the priesthood, and from there the writing, with a prolific editorial production that left significant traces in people’s lives: “Communicating – he said – is to generate life. It is not just a matter of transmitting content, but of sharing an experience that is prohibited ».
Arturo MarianiInstead, he brought the strength of his personal history to the stage: born with one leg, he was able to transform what many would have considered a limitation into a trampoline of meaning and motivation. “Probility” is the word that has coined – a fusion between “possibilities” and “skills” – to tell his vision of disability: “It is not a barrier to communication – he said – but an opportunity to discover the value of truth, of getting involved, listening”. A powerful testimony, which has excited and inspired those present.
The ceremony ended with a convivial moment full of meaning: an ice cream. But not any ice cream. The “Jubilee” taste was offered to all participants, handcrafted by Francesco Ceravoloowner of the ice cream shop Hedera of Borgo Pio. A special taste, already conceived in 2015 for the Jubilee of Mercy, which returns to memory and party. Ceravolo, son of art, continues the paternal tradition with passion and creativity, incarnating – also – that “crafts” that is much more than a technique: it is a form of love for what is done and for those who receive it.
In a world often dominated by noise and superficiality, the “Artisan of Communication” award recalls that communicating is first of all an act of love. And that words, when they arise from truth and listening, really know how to generate life.
