Tired of damaged hair after summer? Find out what the hairdressers are used to doing to keep them intact.
Let us destroy this myth: the sirens with magnificent hair do not exist. In reality, their mane is damaged by the salt of the sea, or the chlorine of the swimming pool. For what ? The explanation is very simple.
Salt dehydrates hair fiber, which makes it dry, rough and dull. This also makes it more vulnerable to external aggressions such as the sun, wind or friction. As for chlorine, it is an aggressive chemical agent designed to kill bacteria attempted by a small swim. The problem ? It does not make the difference between microbes and your hair. Here is why it is common to observe a degradation of the hair fiber after the dip. Fortunately, there is an ultra simple and free tip to protect them. The latter is blown by a hairdresser, Océane Vakian, via a publication on Instagram. “Before diving the head first, we get our hair wet in light water so that they are soaked with water and saturated so as not to absorb chlorinated water”she explains. Of course, this also applies to sea salt.
From the pool, the hairdresser holds a sponge in each hand. These represent your hair. The first is dry, and put directly in the water. Observe: it immediately absorbs the chlorinated or salty liquid. The second sponge is already wet since it went in the front shower. Result: she absorbs anything anymore, since she is already saturated with water! So your hair is in good condition.
On the other hand, we must warn you: this habit does not protect them from the sun. UV degrades the hair fiber as they damage the skin. You must therefore protect them thanks to a special hair mist. Océane Vakian also offers a whole selection at the end of the video.
Finally, let’s finish with a precious advice: wear a hat or a cap. Not only do you avoid insolation, but in addition you limit the damage on the mane. Now, all the sirens in the area will be able to swim in peace.
