After making their income declaration online or on paper, some taxpayers must still go through a step: the tax correction service. Because even having respected the deadlines, we can realize after the fact of an oversight or an error. An undeclared tax credit or donation, a forgotten source of income, a poorly informed tax reduction … Information that distorts the amount of your tax payable, your advantage or disadvantage. To correct it, the taxpayers concerned must turn to the online tax correction service. It is reserved for those who have declared their income online, including via the automatic declaration. This year, the Service opens this Monday, July 30.
For taxpayers, this is a key step: the last opportunity to correct their declaration. But beware, keep in mind that the procedures vary according to the date on which you make the correction. Take the classic case, if you do it in time, from July 30 to December 3, 2025, which is the deadline for the correction deposit, you can modify your amending declaration from your particular space on the impots.gouv.fr site by clicking on the tab “Access the online correction”. At the end of the procedure, a confirmation email is sent. Afterwards, “You will receive a new tax notice” And “Your source deduction rate will be updated.” On the other hand, everything cannot be corrected.
Some changes cannot be made from this service. This is the case, for example, if your family situation has evolved this year (marriage, PACS, divorce or death), or if you have to update your civil status or your address. For these changes, you must contact your tax center directly from your particular space. In addition, according to certain situations, if the correction decreases your tax or increases a tax credit, the tax authorities may ask you for supporting documents, or even sometimes refuse the modification. It is therefore better to be rigorous before embarking on this approach!
For those who have declared their income on paper, the correction is possible, but the process is a little longer. You must send a new paper declaration, indicating “amending declaration, cancels and replaces” on the first page, specifies the service-public site. The whole thing is to be sent to the tax service of individuals on which you depend.
