If you’ve already considered taking a break or stopping alcohol completely, here is what your skin could reveal to you in return.

According to the French observatory of drugs and addictive trends, “Daily alcohol consumption decreases among French people. This drop is even more marked among young people aged 17 for the regular use of alcohol.” You will understand, sobriety is therefore the wind in its sails, and that’s good. Indeed, the World Health Organization continues to inform about the various risks of alcohol on health.

So, if you have chosen to stop drinking alcohol, even temporarily, know that you will almost instantly perceive the benefits. Regular consumption of alcohol can be harmful to your organs, but also for your skin. Even if “Scientists continue to study the biological effects of alcohol on the body and skin, more and more recent research show that less, we drink, better, we wear ourselves”explains Melanie Palm, certified dermatologist, at the magazine Women’shealth. So, if you decided to stop drinking, here is what you could observe. “The first thing you will notice on your skin after stopping drinking is better hydration”, explains Dr. Anetta Reszko, dermatologist and surgeon dermatologist. “Your skin will appear (and will be) more plump, because alcohol no longer chases your body water. You will also notice a decrease in pockets, generally due to alcohol that affects the lymphatic system”, says Dr. Palm. After two to four weeks of sobriety, most people will start to see a general decrease in inflammation and skin diseases such as eczema or psoriasis. After a few months, “Dilated blood vessels and chronic redness begin to disappear”, Note Dr. Reszko. After 1 year, you will see a clear improvement in the elasticity and general quality of your skin.

Stop drinking alcohol, even temporarily, can offer a real freshness to your skin. More radiant, less prone to redness, better hydrated and overall healthier, your skin will quickly reflect this interior change.
