A moment of synthesis, but also of relaunch. On 11 and 12 July the National Committee of the Synodal Way, together with the presidency and the so -called “facilitators” of the assembly works, met in Rome, to contribute to a new piece of the processing of the final document in view of the third synodal assembly. A meeting that has made it possible to integrate, enhance and harmonize the numerous contributions collected in recent months.
“We are coming to a shared conclusion,” said Monsignor Erio Castellucci, president of the committee, underlining the importance of the work done: “I thank everyone for the work, sensitivity and accompaniment”. Castellucci has defined this stage as “an attempt at prophecy”, that is, a gaze -oriented towards the future, which takes into account the projects and experiences gained along the way: “There is the desire for a church close to people, not folded on itself, which could sow the germs of the kingdom of God”.
A perspective also shared by Monsignor Valentino Bulgarelli, secretary of the Committee, who recalled how the mandate entrusted by the second assembly was to re -read the synodal path, offering a text that faithfully reflected the experience lived by many local churches. “The proposals that had been presented in a very synthetic way today find an attempt, with further processing of a text, to make reason for the wealth of what has been listened to,” he explained. The goal is to return to local churches a “more narrative, engaging and recognizable document.
The text in the center of the two -day Roman, appreciated for its choral and inclusive system, is the result of a revision that involved all the components of the route: the second synodal assembly, the dioceses, the committee itself and the permanent episcopal council. His editorial staff referred constant to the features, to the work tool, to the final document of the universal synod and the magisterium of the Church.
After this phase, other passages will follow, always in the wake of the same methodological perspective. The next appointment will be the presentation of the document to the Permanent Episcopal Council, scheduled for September. From there, the path will culminate with the third synodal assembly, scheduled at the end of October.
