From an experience of healing and rebirth to the commitment so that other sick people can receive his same gift. If Alberto Torresan is here to tell his story it is because a woman unknown to him made a generous choice: Multiple myeloma patient recovered thanks to the donation of hematopoietic stem cells. Now his story has become a book My game continues (Alba Edizioni) co-written with Alberta Bellussi, vice-president of Adoces Treviso ODV (Association for the donation of hematopoietic stem cells) which will be presented on Tuesday 24 February at “Casa Sanremo Writers 2026”, the cultural salon of the famous singing event.

Alberto Torresan, a football enthusiast and player, fell ill with multiple myeloma in 2019, a tumor that affects the cells of the immune system, causing them to multiply abnormally and uncontrollably. The diagnosis, however, does not scare him: Alberto becomes a staunch opponent for his pathology, maintaining a positive but conscious and rational attitude in theface almost three years of therapies, until reaching the condition of receiving stem cells from an unknown donor through a transplant, which allowed him to recover. During several long hospitalizations he kept a daily diary which helped him overcome the difficult period he was experiencing and which later became the book. My game continues is an intense story of illness and rebirth after the transplant, which occurred with a voluntary and anonymous donation of hematopoietic stem cells, but also of determination and the desire to win.

Alberto Torresan

The story written by Alberto has two protagonists: he, the patient, who experiences the phases of illness and recovery first-hand and tells every moment of it, elto his donor, who, silently, with an immense act of altruism, allowed him to return to life.

It was written in his destiny that he would find an unknown person willing to give him his life back. Just as it had to happen that his story became a book to make his energy reach as many people as possible, together with the hope offered by voluntary donors because without them there is no transplant or recovery.

A gift for all patients, to convey strength and motivation to them, which is part of an accompaniment path that the Federation has been carrying out for years, also with the podcast “Cellule, they tell their story”, which is also aimed at patients, offering them information and support through the voice and stories of those who have faced a similar path and of those who support patients during treatment”.. The book was created in collaboration with the Italian Adoces Federation, of which Alberto is now a volunteer, and, due to its social value, the presentation obtained the patronage of the Veneto Region, GITMO – Italian Group for Bone Marrow and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplants, of IBMDR – Italian Donor Registry and of the IOV Veneto Oncological Institute. If you read carefully, in fact,

The path of treatment, healing and finally writing of “My Game Continues” was accompanied by a solid and constant presence of Adoces, very committed to promoting and raising awareness among young people and students about the donation of hematopoietic stem cells, to increase the volunteers registered in the Registry and to guarantee a “rebirth” for all patients.

«The donation of hematopoietic stem cells» explains Alberto Bosi, Hematologist and president of the Italian Adoces Federation “It establishes a vital relationship between patient and donor: two stories, two lives but also two different paths, which deserve to be encouraged and supported.”
