A few months after a massive reminder set up by several vehicle brands, including Citroën, a new procedure is triggered. Several vehicles, of two different manufacturers, are included.
A few months ago, 2.5 million vehicles were recalled, including 1.7 million which were the subject of a “stop drive” measure, that is to say that they were immobilized. Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Citroën, DS, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Opel, Seat, Skoda, Toyota, Volkswagen … many brands being affected. The problem was then that these vehicles were equipped with Takata airbags deemed dangerous, and the owners had to go to a garage to have them replaced.
In this month of September 2025, a new reminder was announced, this time by other car brands, and for a different problem. As the manufacturers explain on the recall sheets published on ReminderConso, the defect in the vehicles concerned is at the level of the handbrake. The position sensor of its actuator has a bad angle, “This leads to a bad position of the stop pin in the” P Lock “position and a parking brake lock when the P button is in a hurry on the transmission selector, when the engine is off, when the driver’s safety belt is released or when the driver’s door is open”.
A serious defect, which can cause accidents and injuries. Several types of vehicles are concerned starting with Renault brand models. It therefore recalls Captur II, Megane E-Tech, Scenic E-Tech, Austral, Espace VI, Symbioz, Master IV and Rafale. The cars included in the procedure were manufactured between April 10, 2024 and May 7, 2025. This recall also relates to the Duster Country Cold Dacia model when it was produced between October 31 and November 2, 2024. People who are not certain whether their vehicle is recalled or not can easily know by entering their identification number (wine) on the Renault site or that of Dacia, depending on its brand.
This problem in the handbrake does not require immediately immobilizing the vehicle, but must still be settled quickly. People whose car presents this defect must therefore be closer to their Renault or Dacia dealer in order to program a workshop intervention without delay, which will make it possible to realign the parking brake. Among the other recent reminders of the Renault brand is also some diesel models. This time, owners can benefit from free intervention in concession. The prevention operation aims to clean and update antipollution systems (EGR valve, particle filter, NOX trap) in order to prevent breakdowns, reduce consumption and limit polluting emissions. Are only concerned with diesel vehicles Euro 5 and Euro 6B, produced between January 2011 and September 2015. No compulsory, this approach could however improve the reliability and resale value of the cars concerned.
