Temperatures in Paris could reach 40 degrees in 2050! But the European Environment Agency has identified several places where it should be good in France, even in times of high heat. What is the best city in France to cope with the heat wave?
If, almost every summer, we complain about the heat, the years to come and look more rough. Thus, temperatures in Paris should, for example, be around 40 degrees in August 2050, according to forecasts from Météo France. What dissuade many French people to settle in the capital. According to projections from the European Environment Agency, there will however be a city in which the climate will be much more lenient in France during the summer …
In 25 years, natural phenomena such as fires or floods should multiply in France because of global warming, not to mention the heat wave which should be more extreme. Besides, according to the review Futura SciencesParis is the European city where we are most likely to die of hot during periods of heat wave, in Europe.
But then, where will it be good to live in 2050 when the heat waves fall on France? The AEE has established a classification as a function of the heat index, the temperature of the wet thermometer or the living environment. Several regions have been cited such as Burgundy and its pleasant lakes, the Côte d’Azur (especially during the All Saints and Easter period), Normandy and the sea air from the Côte de Nacre or the Department of Yvelines and its refreshing forests. But a particular region stands out from the others …
It is Brittany, which benefits from a fresher climate, in particular thanks to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. In 2050, when the thermometer displayed 40 degrees in Paris, it will “only” 32 degrees in Brittany. A difference of 8 degrees which is not negligible! It is therefore the city of Brest which is considered the most pleasant place in the event of a heat wave, but Rennes, designated as one of the greenest cities in France, and the other municipalities in Brittany are also acclaimed.
Other places will be clearly pleasant during periods of heat, according to the AEE, such as the city of Lyon, which also has the ambition to reach carbon neutrality in 2030 and which was the first big French city to identify its free accessible places.
