The French are sometimes said to be restive, worried, technophobic… And when it comes to the perception of artificial intelligence, preconceived ideas seem to be confirmed. The French are the most pessimistic about AI in the world, according to a BCG study carried out on 21,400 respondents in 21 countries.
However – and this is the first lesson – they seem familiar with ChatGPT, Gemini, Mistral and others: in any case, 80% of French people say they know generative AI, a figure in line with the international average and well above above the expectations of BCG experts. One in five respondents in France (18%) say they use this technology, even if it is less than in the rest of the world (25%).
