By welcoming an adopted child, you can claim financial assistance called the adoption bonus. Find out the amounts, the ceilings and the terms and conditions for making the request.
Families adopting a child under 20 can benefit from the adoption bonus, a one-off financial support paid within two months of the child’s arrival. This assistance aims to cover the costs related to welcoming the new arrival into your home.
What are the conditions for benefiting from the adoption bonus?
The adoption bonus is part of the Pajein the same way as the birth bonus which is paid following childbirth. This financial assistance is paid under means conditions and for one child under 20 years old. Furthermore, parents must having previously used the child welfare serviceor to a French organization authorized for adoption, or to a foreign authority competent to obtain it.
How much is the adoption premium?
LThe amount of the adoption premium amounts to 2,168.89 euros. In the event of multiple adoptions, Caf pays as many bonuses as there are children adopted.
What resource ceilings for the adoption bonus?
The adoption bonus is allocated to adopting parents according to their resources. These must not exceed a certain ceiling. For 2026, it is the categorical net income for the year 2024 which is taken into account. Remember that the number of dependent children is also a criterion. Here are the Resource ceilings in force until December 31, 2026:

What is the amount of the basic Paje allowance in the event of adoption?
The basic allowance for the childcare benefit (Paje) is also paid to adopting parents until the child’s twentieth birthday for a period of three years. THE amount of the basic allowance is 98.30 euros per month at partial rate and 196.59 euros per month at full rate. Please note that the resource ceilings are identical to those for the adoption bonus.
THE administrative procedures to benefit from the adoption bonus are different if the adopted child is French, European or foreign:
If you have just adopted a child born in France
You will need to provide the Caf with a certificate from the child welfare services or other authorized body, specifying your name and the date on which the child was placed with your family. Parents who are not beneficiaries will have to complete the Cerfa form n°11423*06, which corresponds to the declaration of situation, as well as the declaration of resources form, n°10397*18.
If the adopted child is European
You must send a file to the Caf including a copy of your approval, a copy of the foreign decision, a photocopy of the child’s identity document, the agreement to continue the procedure (APP) document issued by the French authorities before the child’s arrival in France and proof of the child’s arrival in your home. If you are not yet a Caf recipient, you must include in the file the Cerfa forms n°11423 and n°10397.
If you adopt a foreign child from another country outside Europe
You must send the Caf a file with a copy of your approval, a copy of the foreign decision and a photocopy of the child’s passport (or any other document proving their country of origin). If you are not a beneficiary, you must add the completed Cerfa forms n°11423 and n°10397 to the file.
