Do you dream of lifting your foot without stopping working? This new measure will considerably facilitate your transition to retirement.

At the end of their careers, many employees feel the fatigue of long working days, dreaming of devoting more time to their family without stopping working … This situation resonates with many active people who aspire to lift their foot. This gentle transition to retirement, long difficult to organize, nevertheless becomes a major concern for people who do not feel ready to switch overnight towards complete inactivity. Between the desire to slow down the pace and the need to maintain sufficient income, many are found in a dead end.

Good news: from September 1, 2025, progressive retirement becomes accessible to all assets from 60 years old. Two decrees have just brought the age of entry to this threshold, as was the case before the pension reform of September 2023. This concerns a wide range of workers: “On the one hand, the insured persons relating to the general regime, special regimes and in particular the public service regime of the State, the regime of employees and agricultural employees and old-age insurance plans for liberal professions and lawyers. On the other hand, agents of local authorities and workers of state industrial establishments”, Can we read on the Service-Public.fr site.

Concretely, this system allows you to work part -time, between 40% and 80% of full time, while receiving part of your pensions (basic and additional) to compensate for the drop in income. During this period, you continue to contribute to retirement. As our colleagues from 60 million consumersa person born in October 1965, for example, will be able to register in this system in November 2025, when he should have waited early 2027 without this change.

To benefit from it, you must be 60 years old from September 1ᵉʳ 2025, having contributed at least 150 quarters (all regimes combined, increases for children included) and obtaining the agreement of your employer to take part -time. This last condition remains the main obstacle of the system, even if the pension reform has strengthened the constraints weighing on employers. The procedures can now be carried out online, facilitating administrative formalities. This measure, the fruit of consultations between unions and employers in November 2024, represents a real social advance for all those who wish to organize a smooth transition to retirement, without undergoing the sudden rupture of a total stop of activity!
