Jane Seymour, 74, continues to surprise with her fine and tonic silhouette. An appearance that she owes to an iron discipline over the years, without ever following a diet.
Invited to the Meryl Streep Center for Performing Artists to return to her career last May, Jane Seymour talked about everything except nostalgia. What drives it today is energy. “Being healthy makes me feel good, it allows me to continue, it gives me energy”, she said, far from too smooth speeches. For years, she has cultivated this constancy. No large restrictions, no yoyo effect, no detox challenge, or miracle powder.
She does not speak of “perfect body”, but rather in shape. “You have to keep moving”she insists. At home, it goes through small simple routines: light weights, pilates, and a little gardening. Nothing spectacular, but everything is in regularity. What also surprises his fans is his way of eating. Neither obsession nor ban. She does not count the calories and never makes Cheat Meal. “People ask me if I do cheat meals with my diet and I answer that I am never on the diet”, she says. Her secret is to love what she eats.
Thus, his diet is based on a simple base: fish, vegetables, a little coffee in the morning, sometimes hard eggs. No generous dinner, no endless snacking. For small appetites, she puts on nuts, pistachios, crunchy vegetables, houmous. And to specify: “I like salty taste”. She knows her desires and anticipates them. She does not fight against her body, she listens to her. Jane Seymour is also used to cooking herself, often with what she grows in her garden. Her green vegetables, she chooses them, cuts them, seasoned them. “I love the Mediterranean way of eating, it works so well and has good taste, it understands a lot of delicious foods like tomatoes.”
Another important detail: it only eats a real meal a day. “I start the day with coffee and hard eggs for proteins, and it is only later, around lunch time, that I have a full meal, because I can really enjoy it”, she said. A routine that she manages to maintain thanks to her simple desire to remain healthy, to have energy, to take advantage. Inspiring!
