Swimming, rowing, basketball, the traditional competitive sports of Canottieri Milano. But also archery, fencing, dance, blind tennis (adaptation of tennis for people with visual impairments). There are many activities in which people with any type of disability and of all ages will be able to try their hand for a whole day of sport and inclusion, on Sunday June, from 10am to 5pm.
During the event Sport4All of the historic Milanese company on the Naviglio Grande, now in its fourth edition, everyone can have fun and test themselves, free of charge, followed by highly qualified technicians and instructors.
So, for an entire Sunday, Canottieri Milano becomes a place open to families, schools, associations and individual citizens, in the name of full inclusion. In fact, Sport4All will not be a separate event or dedicated to a specific category, but coincides – and not by chance – with the company’s Open Days: all people, with or without disabilities, will be able to experience the club spaces together and learn about sporting activities and share a day dedicated to participation and meeting, in a sporting experience for everyone.
Sport4All, born in 2023 as a pilot day, has grown year after year, involving more and more associations, institutions and participants. Today it represents a an event recognized for its social, educational and sporting value, as well as for the strong impact on the territory, also attested by the awarding of the Fair Play Awards 2025 promoted by Bcc Milano. The event obtained the patronage of CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee) and CONI.
The history of Canottieri Milano, first on the Darsena and then on the banks of the Naviglio Grande, has its roots in 1890, when it was founded thanks to an idea of the councilor Guido Alessandro Bonnet. In the beginning it was rowing. Then over time other disciplines were added, swimming, water polo, basketball, diving, tennis, canoeing and athletics. However, rowing remained the sporting heart of the club: over the years there have been numerous rowing champions who have participated in national and international competitions winning countless Italian, European, world and Olympic titles. In 1926 – exactly one hundred years ago – the prestigious swimming section was born, boasting famous names, such as Emilio Polli, belonging to the first generation of Italian swimmers capable of establishing themselves on the international stage. Today Canottieri Milano is a multi-sports center of excellence and a precious heritage of the sporting life – and not only – of the Lombard capital, as confirmed by the various honors received, such as the Golden Ambrogino from the Municipality of Milan.
Canottieri Milano has been promoting for some time inclusive activities dedicated to people with physical and intellectual-relational disabilities, developing accessible sports routes. «The promotion of sport among people with disabilities is in the first article of our statute», comments the president of Canottieri Milano Stefano Rossi. «We strongly believe in physical activity because it develops inclusion, growth and autonomy for everyone». After all, inclusion is part of the over one hundred year history of Canottieri Milano and is written in the slogan that has animated society since its origins: «Volenti Nihil Difficile», for those who want nothing is impossible.
