This brand announced overnight replacing its legendary logo for another. Everyone is surprised!
You all know her. This legendary brand, recognizable by its green logo, is initially known for its close link with tennis. Indeed, the story begins in the 1920s, when a tennis coach promises his student to buy him a crocodile leather suitcase if he wins his next match. Unfortunately, the player failed to beat his opponent. However, the press awarded him the nickname “crocodile”, in reference to the bet. The player, proud of his, asked a friend, designer Robert George, to sew him a crocodile on his white polo shirt. This player is none other than René Lacoste.
A few years later, in 1933, he founded, with André Gillier, the famous Griffe, Lacoste. She also becomes the first brand to affix a logo on her clothes: a small green crocodile. But, a few days ago, the claw announced on its Instagram account replace it! And there is a good reason (always linked to tennis of course). We explain to you.
The latest chelem of the season held in the United States is fast approaching. And for the occasion, the French brand releases a collection to pay tribute to their ambassador, the Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. The crocodile therefore gives way to a goat in reference to English expression “Goat (Greatest of All Time)“which means” the best of all time “. The new collection includes 5 pieces: a polo shirt, a t-shirt, a jacket, a cap and pants.
This news has surprised fans of the brand a lot since Lacoste changes logo! However, this is not the first time. In 2018, as part of its collaboration with IUCN, the brand highlighted other animals threatened in place of its famous crocodile.
So don’t panic, this change only takes place for this new collection which is in a limited edition!
