Open for over 20 years, the Vulcania amusement park located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is part of the Top 10 Parks de France with nearly 400,000 visitors per year. It is accessible to all ages.
What is Vulcania?
Vulcania is an amusement park located in the volcanoes of the Puys chain, open to the public in 2002, it belongs to the Auvergne – Rhône – Alpes region. Its architecture is unique because they are dug in volcanic rock from the eruptions of the Auvergne volcanoes. Vulcania offers a playful and enriching immersion in the world of volcanoes, natural phenomena and earth in space. It has the largest planetarium in France under an immersive dome of 22 meters in diameter (inaugurated in 2023), dynamic entertainment with in particular a family roller coaster, films on giant screens (Cinéx, the largest screen in Europe, and the astrodôme), activities and shows led by scientists and shows.
What attractions in Vulcania?
Young and old live strong emotions in Vulcania! The attractions allow you to learn and understand while spending a good time. In attraction Sacred volcanoesyou embark on a vehicle that traces the history of peoples against volcanoes. The sensations are there thanks to the dynamic attractions Awakening of the Giants of Auvergne, Dragon Ride, or Namazuan intense adventure in the heart of a seismic fault aboard an all -terrain vehicle (from 1.20m).
Animations told by scientists are also offered as “Volcanoes workshops” To put itself in the shoes of a volcanologist, the Exism Expo to understand the mechanisms of earthquakes, their formation, their measurement and the prevention of risks, or even “earth and planet revealed” to unravel the secrets of the planet. Astronomical evenings are also offered on certain dates in July and August.
What innovations in 2025?
Four new experiences are offered in 2025:
- “Terre de volcanoes”: an immersive space for sensory exploration at the heart of world volcanoes and natural phenomena triggered by their activity.
- The film “Les Diables des Volcantes” retraces the epic of the couple of volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft, in the great hall of Cinéx.
- The “angry earth” attraction returns in a more dynamic, immersive and interactive version, to make the extreme forces of nature experience-earthquakes, storms, mega-fires and other impressive manifestations.
- The new night show “Vulcanova, the Night of Enchantors”
How long does it take to visit Vulcania?
To visit Vulcania, it is recommended to provide at least a full day, with an average visit more than 6 hours. If you want to explore all activities, including scientific workshops and shows, or if you prefer to take your time without hurrying, plan to distribute your visit over two days. During the school holidays, it is possible to buy a 2nd day ticket on site if you want to come back the next day.
What are the opening dates of the Vulcania?
The park is open from March 26 to November 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except from July 7 to August 31, where it is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
What are the vulcania prices?
– normal period (green): € 27.50 adults; € 22.50 children; 7 € Bambin (3-5 years old)
– School holidays (blue): € 31 adults; 26 € children; 8 € Bambin (3-5 years old)
– Astronomical nocturnals (yellow): € 32.50 adults; € 27 children; 9 € Bambin (3-5 years old)
A reduced rate (-1.50 €) applies to students, unemployed and people with disabilities (on supporting documents). The park is free for children under 3 years old. Regulations accepted on site: bank cards, bank checks, cash, holiday vouchers, Cado checks, Culture checks, Kadéos checks (except intense). Free parking equipped with electric charging stations.
