Do you have the habit of taking out your trash without asking yourself any questions? Do you know that this can cost you dearly? So before having to pay a big fine, here is everything you need to know in terms of regulations.
Taking out the trash for garbage collection is probably not your favorite activity and you probably get rid of the task as quickly as possible. However, this is not a gesture to be taken lightly because the regulations, set by municipalities and waste management unions, are rather strict. Whether you are afraid of forgetting the day for household waste collection or you find that it is more hygienic to leave your bins on the public highway rather than inside your house or apartment, know that you take more risks than you think by leaving your trash outside without worrying about the day and time of collection.
Household waste is subject to strict regulations which you are strongly advised to respect, otherwise you risk having to go to the checkout! Municipalities and groups of municipalities collect and process recyclable waste according to the collection methods set by decree. If these conditions are not respected, you may have to pay a fixed fine of 35 euros. If you do not pay the fixed fine within 45 days, the amount of the latter can rise to 75 euros. And in the case of a container that does not respect the rules, the fine can go up to 750 euros!
What exactly do the regulations say about household waste collection? Most municipalities impose times for taking out trash. Leaving your trash cans on the sidewalk outside of collection days creates not only a visual nuisance, but also an olfactory nuisance for your neighbors. They must therefore be taken out the day before or the same morning of collection and returned as soon as possible after collection. Leaving containers permanently on public roads is absolutely prohibited. Trash cans must be placed on the sidewalk so as not to obstruct pedestrian traffic. They must not block access routes, pedestrian crossings or building entrances. Another important point is that owners or tenants are responsible for the cleanliness of the containers. Trash cans must be kept in good condition, without dumping waste on public roads. These are all reasons which can give rise to a fine in the event of a breach.
