Before the age of 25, certain aid remains accessible under conditions. Young people who have already worked for several years can receive more than 600 euros per month from Caf.
When entering working life, many young people discover that social assistance is often more limited before the age of 25. However, there is a little-known help that can be given during a period of professional transition. To benefit from it, however, several criteria must be met.
Unlike other benefits intended for students or young people in training, this aid is aimed at young people who have already worked. And, the main rule concerns the duration of professional activity. Indeed, to be eligible, you must have worked at least the equivalent of two years full-time over the last three years. Concretely, this corresponds to approximately 3,214 hours of work over this period. It does not matter whether these hours were worked on a fixed-term contract, on a temporary basis, on a seasonal contract or on a permanent contract, as long as the total is reached, as specified on the official Public Service website. However, certain periods are not taken into account, in particular those carried out during studies or as part of an internship. The idea is simple: this aid is aimed at young people already engaged in professional life, who have accumulated real work experience before finding themselves with little or no resources.
In addition, age remains a determining factor: it concerns young adults aged 18 to 25. Personal and family situation also comes into play. For example, for a single person without resources, the allowance can reach a little more than 600 euros per month, with a reference amount around 635 euros. If the person lives as a couple and neither of them has an income, the amount can exceed 950 euros per month for the household. In the case of a single parent with a child, the aid can exceed 850 euros, and the CAF website points out that it increases further if several children are dependent.
Therefore, to benefit from the RSA for young workers, the request must be made to the organization to which the applicant belongs. In the majority of cases, this is the Family Allowance Fund, but some people fall under the agricultural regime and must then contact the Mutualité sociale agricole. The procedure involves an application file accompanied by supporting documents, in particular to prove the length of professional activity and the household resources. Pay slips or employment contracts are generally necessary to verify that the threshold of hours worked has been reached.
This help responds to a simple logic: recognizing professional paths already underway, even when they started early. As you will have understood, it is paid by the Caf or the MSA depending on the affiliation scheme, and its amount depends on the resources and composition of the household. In short, it would be a shame to miss it.
