Francis, capital reader, addresses the following question: “Hello, what are the best investments available since August 1, 2025?” Hello Francis, and thank you for your question, which is very timely, since August 1 was indeed marked by a consequent drop in the rates of so -called regulated booklets: that of the booklet A has gone from 2.4% has 1.7% – as for the sustainable and united development booklet (LDDS) – and that of the popular savings book (LEP) of 3.5% has 2.7%. What lead savers to question the reorientation or not of their savings.
Let’s start by saying that even with a lower yield, booklet A and LEP retain assets that other investments do not have: the guarantee of your capital, exempt interest in tax and availability of your savings at any time. In addition, even with its new rate planed at 1.7%, booklet A should continue to remunerate your savings above inflation expected at 1% by the Banque de France over the whole year. Finally, for eligible homes, LEP remains the most advantageous product of regulated savings, as the Banque de France recalls. For savers who do not wish to take any risks, and who have not yet reached the ceilings of these booklets, they can therefore remain an option to favor.
Alternatives to the booklet has more or less risky
If you hope, however, a little more return without taking more risk, life insurance in euros is another possibility. Your capital will also be guaranteed, with the possibility of regaining your savings at any time and a performance promise higher than the new rate of booklet A: in 2024, the average yield of euros was 2.6%, with up to 4% for the best contracts.
Among the other alternatives to booklet A with a moderate level of risk, we will also think of civil real estate investment companies (SCPI), with a distribution rate (yield) of 4.26% in the first quarter of 2025, as well as in bond funds, which distribute yields between 3% and 4%. An obligation of the French state at 10 years is for example remunerated 3.3% currently.
Here for alternatives to booklet A which have displayed the best yields since August 1. However, if more adventurous investments do not scare you, some of them have displayed much higher performance since the start of the year. This is the case, for example, of gold and silver, whose courses had increased by 25% and 28% respectively in mid-year. On the side of the stock market and equity markets, the three most efficient indices since January 1 are Euro Stoxx 50 (+11.6%), NASDAQ (+8.8%), and S&P 500 (+7.5%). But the palm of the best placement of the year returns for the moment to the most volatile of them, Bitcoin, up 28.56% at this stage.
