The loss of income is more than 150 euros per month in some cases. A sum far from negligible!
Each year, thousands of retirees deprive themselves, often without knowing it, of precious resources to which they would however be entitled. Lack of clear information or wrongly persuaded not to be eligible, they let money escape them. This shortfall can weigh heavily on their daily lives, even though it would sometimes be enough of a simple gesture to improve their standard of living. Especially when you know that “76 % of retirees believe that they would miss an average of 531 euros per month to live comfortably”reports the last CSA barometer, produced for Silver Alliance and its member companies.
This problem actually concerns much more people than you think! According to a pension insurance report, 940,000 insured, aged 70 to 90 years, are “In a situation of not recourse to a right employee in the general regime”. Clearly, this means that nearly a million people who have worked as an employee and contributed to the general social security scheme do not affect the retirement to which they are really entitled. But then, why do they not perceive all of their rights to the retirement pension?
Quite simply, because they forgot a certain step in their administrative procedures. Because yes, it must be remembered, but retirement is not granted automatically: it is up to each insured to take the initiative to request the services to which he can claim. To request your retirement pension, you must make an online request on the official retirement insurance website at least five months before your departure. But above all, for your retirement savings products, do not forget to contact the organization directly with which you have subscribed to make the payment request.
In the absence of a approach, no payment is made automatically. The future retiree is thus likely to miss his legal pension (whether it is the basic scheme or the complementary), as well as any retirement savings devices subscribed during his career. And we are not talking about small sums of money …
According to a study by the DREES, the French who do not claim the entire retirement pension lose on average 180 euros gross per month when they have made no procedure to receive their rights, and around 40 euros gross per month if they have not requested only a part of their pensions. These amounts represent a significant shortfall for several hundred thousand retirees each year. Especially that it is not possible to recover these sums later: in general, retirement is not retroactively paid, except in some very specific cases!
