It is the eternal question. Wearing black or white at a wedding is always complicated, but there are solutions that allow these colors to adopt. Follow the leader.
When you go to a wedding, there are some rules to follow regarding your outfit. You have to be well dressed, elegant, but not to do too much. Nor should you choose an outfit similar to that of the bride, nor give the impression that we go to a burial. Black and white are therefore two difficult shades to display during a wedding. But some tips can help control them.
White is obviously delicate to wear since it is the color of the bride. We still remember the outcry that Pippa Middleton had caused by sporting a long immaculate dress at the wedding of her sister Kate. Showing with a dress of this shade can be seen as a provocation, a way to steal the show with the future married and to blur the tracks on the essential wedding photos. In short, a perfect way of blurring with the bride who is likely to be upset.
As for the black, it is of course the color of mourning. Seeing one of their entirely dressed guests dressed in black, the newlyweds are likely to interpret it. Despite everything, there are solutions to wear these two colors and dramatize their meaning.
If the total black or white look is rather not recommended, these colors can very well appear in small touches. We can for example allow ourselves to grant a nice alabish blouse with a colorful Midi skirt. White can also be displayed thanks to patterns, such as a vichy checkered dress or decorated with many flowery prints, such as Alexa Chung’s dress at the wedding of her friend loves Philipps. Black is easily worn on a pair of pumps or dressed black shorts.
If the long white dress is to be avoided, it is possible to choose colors that are getting closer. Nude, pale pink or beige will perfectly replace an ivory too close to the shade of a wedding dress. Fanatics of little black dress, swap it against a marine version to avoid sadding the evening and upset the bride and groom. Like Victoria Beckham at the royal wedding of William and Kate, prefer dark blue leaves a much more joyful impression. Diane Kruger, she wanted to wear black at the wedding of the creator Jason Wu in 2016. The brilliant tip of the actress? A dress covered with sequins!
Another subterfuge: wear very bright colors in accessories to wake up a little black dress for example (fluorescent belt, pumps, bags and/or flashy bibi …).
Who would have believed it? Mixing black and white finally seems to be the miracle solution. While everything opposes them, these two colors are perfectly balanced once together. To do well, we are inspired by Bianca Brandolini, It-girl Italian who, by attending the wedding of her friend, fashion editor Giovanna Battaglia, gave us a real style lesson. This resulted in a long black dress while transparent, whose bustier neckline was surmounted by white flowers and the waist surrounded by an immaculate ribbon. The remedy is all found.
