In 2025, “no respite for policyholders», warns neo-insurance Leocare. Like your home insurance whose prices are soaringthe cost of your car insurance is soaring this year. The increases in car insurance premiums are in fact between 4% and 6%, significantly more than the inflation anticipated for 2025 (+1.6%). To achieve these results*, Leocare focused on the prices charged in the 100 most populous metropolitan cities in France. Note that depending on the region, there are disparities in the costs of car insurance. Particularly in Île-de-France where the gap is widening with other regions, which was already the case last year.
In the top 3 most expensive cities: Ajaccio, Marseille and Antibes. But it is the Île-de-France region which is the most represented with five cities in the top 10, including Blanc-Mesnil, Argenteuil and Saint-Denis. In all these cities, average monthly premiums exceed 55 euros, particularly due to theft and accident-prone roads», Indicates Christophe Dandois, co-founder and president of Leocare. According to the expert, the increase in prices is also due to the revaluation of the additional premium intended to finance the natural disaster regime (known as “Cat Nat”), which increased from 6% to 9% for car insurance on 1 January 2025.

There also remains the game of competition, for avoid paying too muchsometimes you have to compare.
*In its calculation, the insurance takes into account the rates indicated for the profile of a driver with at least 24 months of insurance over the last 36 months, without claims or suspension or cancellation of license, or conviction for alcohol, narcotics, hit-and-run or refusal to comply. The driver owns a Peugeot 208 (1.2 PureTech 110 Allure Eat6 CV, registered in January 2018) for strictly private use. The chosen formula is “All risks” with deductibles (50 euros for broken glass and 330 euros for damage from all accidents, theft and fire) and a ceiling of 1 million euros for driver protection.
