The Carabinieri returns to meet citizens directly in one of the symbolic places of the Capital. On the occasion of the 212th anniversary of the Arma Foundation, the “Arma Village” was inaugurated in Villa Borghese, along Viale delle Magnolie, an exhibition and information space open until 7 June to tell the history, values, activities and innovations of the Institution.

The ribbon was cut by the Commander General of the Carabinieri, General of the Army Corps Salvatore Luongosupported by the godmother of the event Maria Grazia Cucinotta and by the actor and presenter Flavio Insinna. Also present were the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci, the Undersecretary of Defense Isabella Rauti, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, as well as numerous authorities and school groups.

In his speech, General Luongo highlighted the value of the initiative as an opportunity for meeting and dialogue with society civil, underlining the Army’s desire to “open up to communities” and strengthen the bond with citizens.

The inaugural day was also characterized by a discussion on the topic of organized crime which saw the chief prosecutor of Rome as protagonists Francesco Lo Voithe commander of the ROS Vincenzo Molinese and the journalist Francesca Fagnani.

Particular attention is paid to social issues and the education of young people. After the meetings dedicated to bullying and cyberbullying, the Arma Village offers in-depth moments aimed at families, schools and the world of associations.

Saturday the meeting on gender violence

Among the most significant events of the program, the one on Saturday 6 June at 11.00 stands out, entitled “Beyond silence. The fight against gender violence”dedicated to one of the most relevant social emergencies of our time. The meeting will offer an opportunity to reflect on the role of institutions, prevention and education in combating all forms of violence against women, a topic on which the Carabinieri is engaged daily through investigative, protection and support activities for victims.

All the main events of the Villaggio Arma will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the Carabinieri.

The program for June 6th and 7th

Saturday 6 June

11.00 am – Beyond silence. The fight against gender violence

5.00 pm – True or False. The Carabinieri to protect Italian agri-food quality

Sunday 7 June

11.00 am – When trust becomes a trap. Recognize and prevent scams

The event will end on Sunday with the traditional equestrian carousel of the 4th Carabinieri Horse Regiment in Piazza di Siena, followed by a concert by the Army Band from the Pincio terrace.
