Oral oils, herbal teas, candies, cakes, e-liquids for electronic cigarettes, tablets, flowers … It has the wind in its sails but beware. It is not because it is sold legally in France in more and more numerous brands that it is safe for health. The Medicines Agency (ANSM) makes an important reminder about Cannabidiol, better known as CBD, in a press release published on March 11.

In question, interactions between CBD and certain drugs “Who can run risks for their health”. According to data from the authority, anti -poison centers have identified more than 60 cases of interactions that occurred after consumption of products containing CBD since 2017, including four serious cases.   • Antiarrhythmic: digoxin
  • Anticoagulants: Warfarin, Coumarins, Fluindione, Dabigatran
  • Hypolipy: gemfibrozil, fenofibrate, statins
  • Oral antidiabetics: repaglinide
  • Thyroid hormones: levothyroxine
  • Immunosuppressants: Everolimus, Tacrolimus, Sirolimus
  • Proton pump inhibitors: omeprazole, esomeprazole
  • Antibiotics: rifampicin, rifabutine
  • Antifongics: Griseofulvin
  • Myorelaxing: Tizanidine
  • Antidepressants: amitriptyline, citalopram, escitalopram, bupropion
  • Antiepileptics: valproic acid, lamotrigine, phenytoin, carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenobarbital, topiramate, stiripeolol
  • Antipsychotics: Clozapine, lithium
  • Hypnotics and benzodiazepines: Zolpidem, Ramelteon, Tasimelteon, Clobazam, Lorazepam
  • Opiate substitution treatment: methadone

The list is not exhaustive specifies the ANSM, the CBD can interact with other drugs not yet identified by the health authorities. If you take CBD (whatever its form) and drugs and your treatment seems to act differently (more or less strong for example), there may be an interaction. You must contact your doctor or ask your pharmacist for advice. If you feel nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, or if you have suicidal ideas and behaviors, or an epilepsy crisis after the consumption of a CBD product, stop consuming it and consult your doctor.
