CRAI and Pangea Foundation together against violence against women

An expense against indifference. That’s what CRAI, historic large-scale retail trade which has been present in our cities for over fifty years, has chosen to say enough to violence against women. Not with bombastic slogans, but with the delicacy of those who know that certain issues must be treated with respect and closeness.

The initiative started on November 1st, well in advance of November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. A precise choice: not just talking about it on the occasion of the anniversary, but accompanying people on a path of awareness that lasts over time.

In the CRAI stores that participate in the project, something unusual happens: the shopping receipts carry with them important messages. They tell of a little-known form of violence, the economic one, made up of control, prohibitions and dependence that hides behind the domestic walls, between apparently normal gestures and silences that weigh like boulders.

To give substance and depth to the initiative, CRAI has chosen to walk together with the Pangea ETS Foundation, which has been alongside women in Italy and around the world for over twenty years, supporting them on the difficult path towards autonomy and dignity. A partnership that brings concrete experience and expertise in a field where sensitivity and preparation are needed.

Just scan the QR code on the receipt to access a dedicated page, where you can find valuable information and a leaflet created together with Pangea. Materials that help to recognize the different forms of violence, because only when you learn to see what was previously invisible can you really act.

«Violence against women is a wound that runs through our society and affects everyone», she explains Federica PalerminiMarketing Director of CRAI, «companies like ours, which enter the homes of Italians every day, have the moral duty to promote fundamental values and transform closeness to people into concrete gestures».

Words that resonate with particular force if you consider that CRAI is present in more than this 1,150 Italian municipalities, with a network of approximately 1,800 sales points. A capillarity that becomes responsibility: being so close to families means being able to make a difference, one gesture at a time.

A commitment that continues

The initiative will continue until November 25th and beyond, with further awareness-raising actions and concrete support for Pangea Foundation. Because true solidarity does not end in a symbolic day, but is built day after day, even in the aisles of a supermarket.

The Pangea Foundation, through microcredit, professional training and ways out of violence, continues its precious work to restore dignity and autonomy to women. A commitment which, thanks to partnerships such as the one with CRAI, can reach an increasingly wider audience. Because every woman has the right to a life free from fear. And every gesture, even the smallest, can turn on a light in the darkness.
