What is this secret French brand that is in the arms of all stars?
Nowadays, it is difficult to find a bag brand that is not already worn by everyone. If some save to buy luxury bags hoping not to meet another person wearing the same, today, it’s almost impossible. Whether thanks to second -hand platforms such as vinted or collective cloakroom, or social networks that amplify and give visibility to previously little known parts, everyone can get their hands on emblematic models of luxury houses. And it’s not a bad thing, quite the contrary.
On the other hand, for those looking for an original and unique bag, it can be more complicated to find what they are looking for, because even the most out-of-garde of large houses are today adopted by a larger number of people. This is particularly the case of Polène which has long been known to a small circle of fashionistas. Then the claw took off thanks to Kate Middleton, who adopted one of their bags, and other stars followed. Today, no Parisian can be seen without the cyme, an emblematic bag of the brand.
However, there is a French luxury brand that offers new bags. Still confidential, it nevertheless has a long and interesting story. It has its origin in the city of Lectoure, where it opened its doors in 1754, first as a tannerie. The know-how of the merchant Joseph Duclos in the treatment of exceptional leathers is quickly recognized by King Louis XV himself, who signs the letters patent thus making his tannery the first royal leather manufacture.
She then contributed to the seven years war by making war equipment, such as leather shoes. However, the tannery closed its doors in 1850, having no successors. It was in 2021 that the claw will see the light of day, this time as a house, paying tribute to Joseph Duclos and his know-how.
The claw has thus released several leather creations, including its bestseller, the Diane bag, named after the source of the city of Lectoure. With a singular clasp and a metal chain that goes around, it recalls war material and the history of the house. The traditional tannery techniques have been preserved, some being practiced only by the Companions du Devoir, which gives the model a unique character – undoubtedly the reason why Taylor Swift, Carla Bruni and Brigitte Macron love to wear the bags of the house.
Regarding the price, however, we must expect to pay at least 5,000 euros for this collection of bags! A price justified not only by the quality of the materials used, but also by the know-how of Joseph Duclos, which has nothing to envy to other major luxury brands.
