Is it already the end of summer? For some stores, like Action, it seems that it is already the case from mid-August and that does not particularly please customers.
Just because the new school year is coming doesn’t mean the good weather is behind us! On the contrary, pool owners intend to continue enjoying the sun by the water and others hope to settle down on the terrace as if nothing had happened. But decoration stores don’t share this opinion: for them, summer has been well and truly over since mid-August and even earlier on the other side of the Atlantic, which has the gift of annoying social networks!
While stores often encourage us to think about next season, many consumers complain about this way of doing things, which prevents us from enjoying the present moment and speeds up the passage of time. And this is especially true this year, when everyone is already being asked to move on even earlier than other years. As a reminder, summer is still here until September 22, the official date of fall. However, at the beginning of August, some stores have installed Halloween decorations… the date of which is October 31. Pumpkins, skeletons and other spiders therefore arrive in stores three months before the date and give summer an air of autumn that is not welcome. In the United States, where Halloween is particularly celebrated, this early arrival has even given the name to a new trend: “Summerween” (for summer and Halloween) or how to decorate your interior in the colors of autumn while summer is in full swing. Of course, some fans of the holiday are happy, but most consumers are rather shocked and denounce the haste of the stores. On X (formerly Twitter), many Internet users are surprised to see Halloween decorations appearing in Action stores for three weeks already. “This is not a joke, they gave the Halloween decorations back to Action, I repeat, this is not a drill” joked @hanjispie on the network on August 13.
You should know that on social media the message is clear: no Halloween decorations in August. In September, it would be good to bring autumn into your home and you should wait until October for Halloween decorations to be tolerable. So no need to rush… at the risk of having to think about your Christmas decorations as early as October.
