This year, the Grand Oral Orals of the General Baccalaureate are held From Monday June 23 to Wednesday July 2, 2025 at the latest.
How is the big oral of the bac?
The Grand Oral test always takes place in several times. Two questions are prepared during the year with the teachers. For the general baccalaureate, these questions relate to one or two specialty lessonsand on the specialties of the series concerned for the technological route. The jury chooses one of the questions on which the student will be questioned. Clearly, there is:
- Preparation for 20 minutes : The student prepares his oral, he can make a support (map, diagram), he establishes his plan and his argument.
- 10 -minute presentation, standing : The student explains why he chose to approach this question by developing his answer.
- Exchange with the candidate for 10 minutes : The jury questions the candidate to help him deepen his subject, and thus assess the solidity of his acquired knowledge and his argumentative capacities.
THE Grand oral jury consists of a teacher of one of your specialties (or a teacher of the specialty of your series for the technological path) and a teacher from the other specialty or one of the common lessons, or a professor-documentalist.
How long does the big oral last?
In all, the big oral lasts 40 minutes : 20 minutes of preparation and 20 minutes passing in front of the jury.
What is the Grand Oral Bac evaluation grid?
The great oral of the baccalaureate aims at assess the skills of students as well as public speaking, in a structured and argued way, and the ability to develop a reflection. The great oral that has existed since 2021 thus aims to assess the oratory potential of students. During the Grand Oral eventthe student will be assessed on several criterianamely:
- The solidity of the candidate’s knowledge
- The clarity of his remarks
- Its ability to argue and connect knowledge
- His critical thinking
- His involvement
During the examination of the Grand Oral, the candidates are also evaluated according to a precise evaluation grid. The Ministry of National Education shared a Indicative grid of the evaluation of the Grand Oral.
In general, the big oral has a coefficient of 10, and for the technological path a coefficient of 14. As a reminder, The Grand Oral test is noted on 20 points : It counts in terminal control for 60% of the final note of the bac.
