The Church is missionary or is not. “The world needs the light of Christ. Humanity requires him as the bridge to be achieved by God and his love ». Pope Leone reiterates what is magisterium, doctrine, tradition and history of the Church since its origins. Mission means going, because “sent”, to announce the good news, to be witnesses of the grace received. Which is Jesus, away, truth and life. And it is beautiful, right and normal to wish that this way truth and life can be encountered for everyone. Because only Jesus is the answer to the desire for happiness, justice, beauty for man.
Only Jesus performs the soul, gives meaning to what seems senseless, supports hope and charity. Only Jesus really corresponds to my being. Then being missionaries does not mean first of all being good or being good at “doing things”. But bring the novelty and the presence of Christ and, therefore, to be a sign of this presence, close to the brothers in their daily needs. Being a colorful and transparent splinter that makes the magnificent light shine in the windows of the cathedrals, remembered with a beautiful example of Pope Francis.
We are then, consequently, for a grace received and we are all missionaries, religious and non -religious, young and old, sometimes without knowing it, “even with words”, warned his friars San Francesco, Because often words are superfluous, if the transfigured life, con-nerty, can be seen and becomes pro-vocation, that is, called, for others. Now, the globalized world has expanded and incredibly restricted, until it contains in the box of a smartphone. The virtual often supplants reality in a network that seems to us to unfold indefinitely, yet it has well -defined laces and barriers: we move, we shake, convinced that the world is enclosed in it. That in the jerseys of this network we can discuss, understand, meet, weave ties, loving, earning, lossesthe. If the network is a piece of the world, then it is space for the man touched by faith, it is a place to be missionaries. But the now cleared term cleared of “digital missionaries” can be deceptive: it cannot do without man’s flesh, concrete life, smile and tears, hands that tighten, wounds to disinfect and cure, of the meeting.
Well then catechesis pills. Tales of changes changed. Explanations of the Word of God, of the lives of the saints. Faces that testify to pilgrimages, educational works, of charity, but above all the disruptive force, the imagination of faith. Stories that widen the heart and head to distant worlds, where the good God, here with us as everywhere and has always seen and touched and changes life. This is a digital mission, it is service, well widespread. Not the ballets on Tiktok, not the proposal of self -presumptuous answers to every question, not the illusion that is enough an attachment on the net that does not indicate a concrete road, of the faces, a house in which to welcome and announce.
