As soon as the sunny days arrive, pigeons are more active and tend to settle on the edges of windows of houses or apartments. Although this spectacle can be fun to watch, it is best to avoid letting pigeons invade your space.
Once spring sets in, pigeons take advantage of the mild surroundings and particularly enjoy being perched high on roofs, window edges or balconies. But be careful not to let them take over your territory, otherwise you may regret it!
Why you shouldn’t let pigeons settle on your windows? When they do not sow droppings (very difficult to clean) and feathers in their path, noise pollution is also present when the pigeons decide to invade the edges of our windows. Do you think you can get rid of them by shooing them away? Know that it’s a waste of time and that if you want to say goodbye to them for good, you need a lasting solution. Because pigeons have the unfortunate tendency to not let themselves be dislodged easily once they have settled in a place that they like and that they do not hesitate to mark. And in addition to being invasive and contaminating exterior surfaces, be aware that they can also cause other notable damage by damaging, for example, flowers and green plants.
As invasive as they are, there’s no point in harming them! There are many natural solutions to scare away pigeons without hurting them. This is the case for repellent sprays specially designed to repel pigeons or spices (pepper, curry, cinnamon), to be scattered on your window sills, planters and pots.
But the tip that wins is that of aluminum foil, because this element is known to scare pigeons with its shine, but above all the noise it makes when it is crumpled and rubs other surfaces. To do this, simply place pieces of aluminum foil in places where pigeons are likely to settle and let the magic happen!
And to be even more peaceful when you live in a house, it is even recommended to place strips of aluminum foil in your gutter to prevent them from establishing their nests there.
