At Easter, tradition and care for others are linked by a thread of hope. The centuries-old tradition of Neapolitan suspended coffee is revisited in the “Suspended Egg” initiative of the ANT Foundation, which for Easter 2026 returns to transform a simple gesture of sweetness into concrete help for those fighting against oncological diseases.
The mechanism is simple: with a minimum bid of 15 euros (16 for Naples) anyone can purchase an artisanal chocolate egg. Once the Easter egg has been purchased, it will be delivered to local solidarity organizations by the ANT Franco Pannuti Ets Foundation, which was founded in Bologna in 1978 on the initiative of the oncologist Franco Pannuti and has since provided free specialist medical assistance at the homes of cancer patients.
Who receives the donation? The proceeds go directly to finance the work of doctors, nurses and psychologists who every year provide free home care to over 11,000 cancer patients throughout Italy.
The physical egg, on the other hand, is donated to children who find themselves fighting in hospital wards, to guests of family homes, to lonely elderly people or to people in obvious economic difficulty.
Precisely on this spirit of sharing, Raffaella Pannuti, daughter of Professor Pannuti and president of the ANT Foundation since 2011, explains: «With the “Suspended Egg” project, borrowed from a Neapolitan tradition already in itself imbued with humanity and sociality, the ANT Foundation has chosen to double its solidarity on the occasion of the fundraising campaigns connected with the most important holidays of the year. At Easter, in fact, as at Christmas, we invite our supporters to make a small donation to “suspend” a chocolate egg or a panettone, allocating the gift not to themselves but to people assisted by other meritorious Third Sector entities. This is a way to multiply the recipients of the generosity of ANT’s friends and to create and consolidate collaborative networks in the non-profit galaxy.”
The initiative creates a widespread network that will touch all our cities. The collected eggs will reach various destinations.
In Milanthe eggs will bring a smile back to those who struggle in the oncology departments of the National Cancer Institute and Sacco. In Naples instead, they will bring a moment of celebration to the children of the Scampia Peace School and to the homeless (homeless people) followed by the L’Aura Movement. In Tuscany they will support historical entities such as the Istituto degli Innocenti of Florence and Caritas of Pistoia. In BolognaANT chocolate will become a tool of inclusion for the Casa S.Chiara and Copaps cooperatives.
It’s not just about doing good, but doing it well. The products chosen are of high quality: 500 gram chocolate eggs (milk or dark) and 750 gram artisanal doves.
But how can you participate in the initiative? There are many modes. For example in the squares, through hundreds of mobile stations manned by volunteers. On the official website or via the Foundation’s Amazon profile. The presence is also strong in the area with over 65 Charity Points (ANT solidarity shops) distributed throughout Italy.
Choosing the Suspended Egg means deciding that Easter must not just be an anniversary on the calendar, but an opportunity to remember that the dignity of life – what ANT calls “eubiosia”, good life – must be defended every day, especially within the walls of the home.
