Ready, go: it’s now up to journalists and the entire world of communication. From 24 to 26 January they are, in fact, the protagonists of the first jubilee event for the various categories. Of course, there is the fact that their patron, Saint Francis de Sales, is celebrated on January 24th. But aren’t journalists also among the professionals most directly challenged by a Jubilee that focuses on hope?
This is the reason we interviewed Elisabetta Soglio, “our lady of good news”, since he created and coordinates one of the most appreciated newspapers by those looking for traces of hope in today’s Italy.
Brianzola, born in 1965, has worked at Corriere della Sera since the nineties, after starting out at Avvenire. Married and mother of two children, she has written two books on as many witnesses of hope: Call me Giuseppe, about Father Ambrosoli, missionary doctor in Uganda (San Paolo editions) and Forbidden to trample on dreams about Nino Acampora, founder of PizzAut (Solferino).
«Social networks and TV provide news 24 hours a day, often focused on crime news. Which created a saturation effect among the public”, says Soglio. «We are all a little tired of the bad news and are looking for something else. The protagonist of good news is not only the missionary, but also the young person who starts a start-up, the researcher who returns to Italy after years abroad, the professional who manages to creatively reconcile work and family. We tell many stories that have nothing miraculous or heroic about them. Indeed, we want to avoid the temptation of pietism on the one hand and heroism on the other.”
