The French are convinced by the importance of improving the energy performance of their accommodation but feel a little lost at the same time. This is the main teaching of a study by BNP Paribas and Harris Interactive, which was presented to the press this Thursday, May 15. The survey, carried out with 1,500 French representatives of the population, reveals that 89% of them consider the energy renovation of buildings as a priority or important issue, a figure slightly higher than the European average (87%). Awareness is massive since 73% of those questioned say they are affected by the impact of climate housing, and 77% consider it essential to improve its energy performance.

If the intentions of energy renovation of the French are undeniable, 43%of those questioned consider, on the other hand, that the collective effort to act in the face of climate change must first be supported by the public authorities, then by the landlords (30%) and the companies (27%). In addition, the majority of those questioned (60%) deem “difficult»To learn about existing aid and 73% believe that the administrative procedures to obtain them are complicated. So many brakes that hinder the French in their energy renovation projects.

The study also demonstrates that almost one in two owners (43%) already says to do their maximum to improve the energy performance of its accommodation. Problem, 28% of those questioned declare that they do not have the financial means to get started, and 21% prefer to wait, for fear that the regulations are still evolving. This phenomenon of wait -and -see illustrates a concern about the stability of standards since 68% of French people believe that they change too often.

Work, a brake on purchase

Despite their doubts, the French are convinced that energy performance influences the value of their real estate. Indeed, 80% of them believe that well -isolated housing is a determining criterion or will soon become so as part of the sale of their accommodation. The vast majority of those questioned (82%) consider that the need to carry out work to improve an energy performance diagnosis (DPE) is a brake on purchase.

In addition, the financial question remains unsurchased as a primordial surprise since seven out of ten French people say they are ready to embark on the realization of works if public aid covers at least 70% of the cost of the renovation. These expectations are all the stronger since 67% of respondents believe that current aid cover only a small part of the costs, even if 46% recognize that France offers more aid than the European average.
