The radiant Estelle Lefébure reveals her tip for sleeping like a baby during menopause.
Menopause is a new step in the life of a woman. In his book Welcome (ed. Flammarion), Estelle Lefébure celebrates life and acceptance of passing time. At 58, she does not hesitate to share her experience during menopause and even gives precious advice to cross it peacefully. Starting with the most important thing to lead a serene life: a sweet sleep, so difficult to reach during this period.
“According to a study, 61 % of menopausal women suffer from sleep disorders. I find this figure staggering, but by chatting with women around me, it does not surprise me”she writes. The origin of these disorders? Stopping estrogen and progesterone production, hormones controlling melatonin production, important to sleep regulation. That’s not all. Other factors can disturb your night such as muscle pain, hot flashes, anxiety, depression … In short, a long list of symptoms that we would go well. But the French mannequin and actress have a secret to improve this problem. “The principle is as follows: set up a routine, as for children, to accustom the brain to associate bedroom and reads with sleep, and bring all the conditions of a restorative night.” Who said that menopause did not rhyme with return to childhood?
More specifically, Estelle Lefébure advises to get up and go to bed at a fixed hour. For example, 10:30 p.m. in the evening and 7 a.m. “It may be a little restrictive at the start-especially on weekends … I myself had some difficulties in applying this basic rule”she says.
So it is important to have patience. Like everything, this is a matter of usual. And then, you can also adjust the hours as you go, to find your ideal niche to find the arms of Morpheus.
