Who said that a balanced diet and appetizer cakes don’t go well together?
The arrival of sunny days also signals the return of aperitifs with friends. But this moment is often the terrain of all dangers for those who watch their figure. Between ultra-processed biscuits and chips full of bad fats, it’s difficult to stay the course without depriving yourself. Then comes a well-kept secret of nutritionists and sports coaches. A delicious cake that is crunchy to the bite, all without ruining the effort. Intriguing, right? A real protein bomb — the number one ally for muscle tone and complexion radiance — this chic and tasty alternative has a carbohydrate counter close to zero. It is the promise of a moment of conviviality without guilt, where the pleasure of the taste buds is finally combined with a balanced diet.
You can buy them ready-made at the supermarket or make them yourself. They are eaten as an aperitif, in a salad, or can even be used as a snack when feeling peckish. In short, parmesan chips are truly versatile. “Although typically eaten in small quantities, this hard cheese is surprisingly high in protein and provides plenty of flavor, which can help make nutrient-dense meals more satisfying“, explains Skylar Weir, a nutritionist, to the media Women’s Health.
The benefits of parmesan chips don’t stop there: they are high in protein and calcium, while being lower in carbohydrates than traditional chips. They deliver crunch and flavor without the excess calories or refined carbs. There is, however, one point of caution: parmesan is naturally salty, and the elimination of water when cooking the tiles concentrates this salt. In case of tension to be monitored, it is advisable to consume them in moderation.
To taste these little tiles, two options exist. The first is to make them at home: in this case, simply grate some parmesan and place it in the oven heated to 200°C for 3 to 5 minutes. On the other hand, if purchasing commercially, it is recommended to check the list of ingredients. The best chips only contain parmesan. We absolutely avoid those that add starches or flours, which would increase the carbohydrate level unnecessarily. The industrial version makes for a salty, crunchy snack option with about 13 grams of protein per 28-gram serving, or about 19 tiles. Enough to fill up on energy, without feeling guilty.
