An invisible thread binds the genius of the Renaissance to contemporary art: it is what Andrea Chisasi intertwines in his exhibition Muta poema visual and conceptual journey that pays homage Leonardo da Vinci with a bold and immersive reinterpretation of his most iconic works. From 7 April to 5 May 2025, the Andrea Chisei Art Gallery of Milan turns into a place of dialogue between eras, where tradition merges with the experimentation to give life to new artistic suggestions. With its peculiar technique of MergersChisesi rewrites the Leonardo imagination through visual and material stratifications, giving the public an unpublished perspective on the Tuscan master.
The title of the exhibition is inspired by Leonardo’s famous definition: “Painting is a mutate poetry, and poetry is a blind painting”. With Muta poemChissi builds a bridge between the Renaissance and the contemporary, reinterpreting masterpieces such as The Mona Lisa And The Cenacle through its peculiar technique of “mergers”. The goal is not only to pay homage to the Tuscan master, but to create a dialogue between past and present, offering a new perspective on his works. This artistic path allows to investigate how Leonardo’s legacy can still influence and inspire today’s creativity, underlining his ability to cross the centuries without losing topicality.
The Milanese setting is divided into four thematic rooms, designed to offer an immersive experience. Two of them are entirely dedicated to Leonardo’s reinterpretation, highlighting the depth of his works through the technique of Mergers. Another room focuses on Fireworksa subject particularly dear to Chisese and symbol of his artistic research linked to memory and time. Finally, a fourth section hosts his drawings, offering the public the opportunity to understand the creative process behind his work. Thanks to an innovative use of light and pictorial surfaces, the exhibition itinerary involves the viewer in a sensory experience that exceeds the traditional concept of the art exhibitiontransforming it into an emotional journey between different eras and visual languages.
The distinctive feature of the work of Andrea Chisse is his innovative technique of Mergersdeveloped by the artist in 2004. Through this methodology, he combines photography and painting, stratifying materials and images in a process that recalls the aesthetic of urban billboards. His works thus acquire an identity in the balance between the past and the present, between the ephemeral and the eternal. The Mergers They are the result of in -depth research on the interactions between images and matter, in which different visual elements merge to create a unique and stratified narrative.
Chisese, who started his career as a photographer, immortalized stars of the caliber of Harvey Keitel, Robbie Williams and Steven Tyler. His sensitivity to light and visual composition clearly emerges in his canvases, which transform pictorial support into a schedule of memories, icons and urban suggestions. This experience in the world of image has contributed to strengthening its artistic approach, in which attention to detail and the search for formal perfection combine with a strong emotional impact. The ability to grasp the essence of the subject, be it a face or an architectural structure, is reflected in its pictorial production, making it immediately recognizable and intense.

Andrea Chisasi is one of the few contemporary Italian artists to own three permanent personal galleries: in Milan, Pietrasanta and Ortigia. His works are present in prestigious private collections, including that of the Qatar sheikh, who after a visit to the Atelier in Ortigia has decided to acquire some of his creations. His work has crossed Italian borders, attracting the attention of international critics and collectors, thanks to his ability to reinterpret the past with a modern and innovative sensitivity.
