Because a pen mark on a sofa or a T-shirt happens quickly, here’s how to get rid of it in no time.
Coffee, sweat, dirt, blood, pen… So many things that stain and often leave traces. Whether it was a mistake made by your child or by you, who dropped your pen in the middle of a crossword, your favorite armchair is stained, but, rest assured, no one died.
These little hazards of life do not necessarily mean that your textiles are ruined, no, no. There is a gentle method for removing ballpoint pen marks from any fabric in the house and it works on clothes too. Spotted on the TikTok account @video_conseilsquotidienne, which, as its name suggests, brings together the best tips and tricks that can be found on the web, this technique offers a result that is astonishing to say the least. You will only need one ingredient and it is more often found in the refrigerator than in our household products drawer since it is milk!
In fact, you are going to heat a little milk in a container for a few minutes in the microwave. It should not be boiled because the milk should be hot, but not hot. With an uncolored microfiber cloth – otherwise it could make the situation worse – soak the pen stain with the warm milk, rub until it disappears completely. If necessary, repeat the operation, letting the milk sit longer. You will see, milk has the capacity to absorb ink. Finish by rinsing the area with a little clean water and make sure the stain is completely gone before drying the fabric, especially with heat, which could set the remaining ink.
Note that rubbing alcohol is also effective for this type of stain. But in case your fabric is delicate or colorful, it may be safer to test the alcohol on a small, hidden area first to make sure it doesn’t discolor the fabric. Ditto for white vinegar or acetone (for non-delicate fabrics, again). You are now ready to put an end to ballpoint pen stains!
