Comedian Florent Peyre is the happy father of an 8-year-old little bundle of joy. But when we ask him if he plans to expand the family, his answer is straightforward: no! Here’s why…
Florent Peyre, starring in the musical The Producers at the Paris theater, is an artist and a happy dad. The 45-year-old comedian explained to RTL that he was not planning to have a second child. He revealed one of the reasons for this refusal, which is entirely up to date.
Florent Peyre refuses a second child: “Only one was good”
No question of expanding your family. Florent Peyre is already the father of a little boy named Marius, born in 2017 from his union with the actress Virginie Stref. But he believes that this happiness is more than enough for him. “Just one was good“, he said bluntly. A decision that he justified by ecological thinking. “If you have a second child, you add a consumer to this poor planet“, he explained.
But the famous troublemaker still qualified his remarks. According to him, having a child is not necessarily a bad thing for the planet. On the contrary, it can also bring hope. “The other argument is that, depending on the education we give, we add a person who, as they grow up, can work for (the planet),” he explained philosophically.
The comedian is indeed very committed to protecting the environment and tries to transpose this fight into his daily life. “It’s already been around ten years that my wife and my son have changed a lot of things, from no more scooters, no more planes, to trains and bikes. (…) I haven’t bought a plastic bottle in 5 or 6 years. You can open our fridge, there is no longer a trace of plastic in it“, he had also explained to Women’s Journal a few years earlier.
Florent Peyre, crossed by doubts: “I was sure of my move”
The one who became known to the general public thanks to the show We just want to laugh about it by Laurent Ruquier, confided that his couple had, however, gone through periods of doubt concerning the idea of a second child. “I was sure of my move. My wife was also quite sure of her move. Then she came back a while ago saying: ‘why not’. And I said no“, he revealed on RTL. “And then afterwards I said: ‘why not’. She told me no“, he added.
In the midst of these parental hesitations, there is one who seems to have already made a decision: their son, Marius. The little boy sees things with great lucidity and a good dose of humor. “In the middle, there is Marius who says: ‘Me guys… the three of us are good’“, said an amused Florent Peyre. The young boy, visibly not very enthusiastic about the idea of having a little brother or a little sister, even added: “We’ll have to get up at night, he’ll wake us up“. Enough to make his dad laugh, who would have replied: “But do you think you’re going to get up?“.
