“Hearing is a political act “: it is the leitmotif of the second edition of the Weworld Festival. Voices and stories from the margins, which returns to Bologna from 7 to 12 October. The event, completely free, of social cinema promoted by the humanitarian organization takes place over six days with a rich program of events, photography, projections and meetings designed to stimulate reflection, comparison and change and to listen to the realities that do not speak enough and that often remain on the margins.
The review presents short, medium and feature films from all over the world. Many Bolognese previews and five national previews: The Travelers, Little Syria (event in collaboration with Middle East Now), ABO ZAABAL 89, When Harmattan Blows, Until the Orchid Blooms. At stake, three cinematographic awards, “Andrea Zani” on climatic and environmental justice, “Disarming Patriarchy” on gender equality and “Giovanni Lo Porto” on human rights, with three dedicated juries.
The Festival will open with two previews: a special projection of Everyday in gaztoon September 30th; A short documentary made by Weworld directed by Omar Rammal and made with the images collected inside the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian photojournalist Sulaiman Hejji, collaborator of international newspapers. The second preview of the Festival, on the same day, will be The screening of the film Green is the new red, which explores the historical roots of environmental violence in Latin America, starting from the Condor operation to today’s murders of the defenders of the Earth.
The film review will be flanked by a photographic journey with two exhibitions that tell the marginality of the African state of Mali. The program also includes meetings and workshops dedicated to girls and boys.
