One minute of exercise per day is what it would take to change your life according to a study. Explanation.
Doing exercise every day can be difficult for lack of time or motivation. It must be said that finding a balance between work, family, social life, various obligations and sport all in a day is not easy. But according to a new study, only a daily minute per day would be enough to really change your life. Yes, no need to lift alters and make cardio for two hours to see the benefits observe. Good news, right?
First of all, this study identified by the British version of the Média Stylist is taken from a preliminary article which means that it has not yet been published in a review. The researchers have selected a sample of 3,293 American adults from the National Health and Nutrition Survey (Nhanes-a set of health data collected by the centers for the control and prevention of diseases in the United States) carried out between 2011 and 2014. Each of them said they did not practice sport.
Participants received a watch to follow their physical activity for a week. They were then divided into several groups which carried out high intensity exercises over only ten seconds, several times during the day, including climbing, carrying racing bags or even playing with their children. The result? The group having practiced an average of 1.1 minute of vigorous activity per day reduced its risk of death by 38% in the next six years compared to that which was doing nothing. As Stylist points out, this is the first study highlighting the effects of a short but vigorous physical activity. A significant discovery when you know that a regular sports in adults contributes to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases but also of diabetes and certain cancers. It also improves mental, cognitive and sleep health.
Be careful however, the results of this study, although encouraging, do not mean only one minute of everyday sport is enough. According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), an adult should have moderate physical activity of at least 150 minutes per week, or intense 75 minutes.
