Brigitte Bardot’s son is expected at his famous mother’s funeral on January 7. But where was their complicated relationship before the death of the ex-actress?

Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, Brigitte Bardot’s son, will be present at the funeral of his mother, buried this January 7 at the Saint-Tropez marine cemetery, according to The Parisian. However, their relationships have not always been good, far from it. What do we know about the son of the former cinema icon?

Brigitte Bardot, her son left France to lead his life in Norway

Brigitte Bardot gave birth to Nicolas-Jacques on January 11, 1960. But, for a long time, the blonde, who did not want to have children, did not manage to create real bonds with him. Her delivery was also painful, in every sense of the word. “Her suffering is such that when Nicolas Jacques is placed on her stomach, she pushes him away vigorously, exclaiming: ‘I don’t want to see him anymore!‘”, we read in Gala. When the baby’s nanny, Moussia, handed the child to Brigitte Bardot, the child cried without stopping. It didn’t take much for her to have the impression that he didn’t love her.

The star of Contempt However, there was another explanation for his lack of interest in his son. “When he was born, there was hysteria around me. It was madness. The delivery room set up in my house, the photographers behind the windows, those who disguised themselves as doctors to surprise me. There was no privacy. It’s terrible… I associated the birth of my son with this trauma. And it was Nicolas who bore the consequences“, she said in Point of view.

Shortly after, Brigitte Bardot fell in love with Sami Frey, on the set of the film The truth. The separation with the father of her son, Jacques Charrier, was therefore inevitable, and it was he who finally obtained custody of their son, without her opposing it. In order to protect the young man from the media, he was secretly sent to study at a school in Castres, in Tarn, in the 1970s.

Then, Nicolas-Jacques – who works as an economic engineer – led the most discreet life possible in Norway after marrying the model Anne-Line Bjerkan in 1984. With her, he had two daughters: Anna (born in 1985, lawyer) and Thea (born in 1990, model).

Brigitte Bardot: why did her son file a complaint against her?

Despite his wish to remain in the shadows, Nicolas-Jacques unwillingly found himself at the heart of a media scandal by filing a complaint against Brigitte Bardot, with her father, for “invasion of privacy” when her famous mother used particularly harsh words to describe her pregnancy and the birth of her child. “It was like a tumor that had fed on me, that I had carried in my swollen flesh, only waiting for the blessed moment when it would finally be rid of me. The nightmare reached its climax, I had to take responsibility for the object of my misfortune for life“, she confided, without ambiguity, in her book Initials BB.

Over the years, the former actress was able to reconcile with her offspring, in particular thanks to the efforts of her husband Bernard d’Ormale who had played the mediator. During the last years of her life, she saw him rarely, but they had maintained contact. “I am a great-grandmother of three little Norwegians who do not speak French and whom I rarely see“, she assured Paris Match.
