Marketed first in the United States, and since the 2000s in Europe first, it has been used during the rules and replaces tampons and hygienic towels. This device takes the form of a small funnel -shaped cut which, inserted in the vagina, collects the blood of menstruation. It is made up of medical silicone and ends with a rod, a ring or a ball allowing the withdrawal.
The advantages of the menstrual CUP are numerous compared to the stamps. It can stay in place until 12 noon before being emptied and cleaned, and is reusable for each rule for several years (around 5 to 10 years). It thus constitutes an ecological alternative in comparison with disposable stamps. It is also much more economical in the medium and long term. It is comfortable, even during sports activities, and can be worn at night. Its use reduces the risks of infections, but also of contraction of toxic shock syndrome due to stamps. Cups are available in several sizes, especially for nulliparous women, but also for mothers. They are designed to contain between 10 and 30 ml. They are also offered in many colors and accompanied by a transport pocket, or even a sterilizer – all these accessories that can be additional choice criteria. Indeed, the CUP must be sterilized with boiling water between each rules for more hygiene. To choose your menstrual CUP, the major criterion will therefore be the size, to choose carefully according to your profile as well as your blood flow.
